Sunday : Week In Review

I definitely had an interesting week.

By mid-week it was very obvious that I had my head in the clouds.  I made several itty-bitty mistakes all because I was flighty and unconscious.  I found myself in the middle of a test at school daydreaming like a twelve year old.
Niiiiiice.

I didn't wake up enough for yoga, so I felt pretty ungrounded and achy in that aspect.

My husband and I are getting along well, despite a mistake I made early in the week. In addition to lying to him, I also made a decision to put my desires in front of his.  All in all, it made for one upset man, and understandably so.  However, we seem to have recovered (at least in part) quite well.  We've had a good week after the argument.  I did pull back from a social event in order to spend some time with him, and I'm really happy that I made that choice.

Hmm... other than that - Halloween Saturday night of course.  We went to a friends birthday party for lunch, then changed into costumes for a K12 event at the Rosenbruch Wildlife Museum. We toured the museum with a good friend & her family, and that made all the difference, we had a great time.

However, Halloween wouldn't be same for me without a HUGE wardrobe malfunction.  While we visiting the museum, it becaume PAINFULLY clear that Ethan's costume was too small.  He literally pulled at his crotch every THREE seconds.  Its was hilarious.

But, hilarious as it was - it obviously needed to be changed.  Back to walmart's costume aisles we went.  (Thank goodness they took back the bumblebee costume)  Ethan ended up choosing to be Nightfury from How to Train your Dragon for round 2.

Emma was a beautiful princess, her costume turned out really well.  She was adorable.

We headed to a "Trunk of Treat" with some friends' families.  We had a great time, kids, wives & husbands.  Although I'm sure the husbands would have headed home a bit earlier than the 10 p.m. curfew that the wives called.  :)

And do I have Halloween pictures?  Of course not.  Because who remembers their camera on Halloween?  Not me.  Not ever.

Sunday/Monday: Week In Review

Highlights of last week...

Mom's Night In on Friday night... interesting choice of activities (watching birth videos) but always fun to hang out with my team.

Yoga only happened twice last week.  By the end of the week, I was just beat. I got into a bad cycle of staying up too late and sleeping in.  Not conducive to yoga in the morning before daycare.

Daycare is going well.  We had a lot of fun this week, as always.

We learned addition with candy and then another day we used blocks. Candy corn really drives the point home.

We learned to read and write 3 sight words:  The, And, Is.

We went to the pond to feed the ducks after reading Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey.

We bought Ethan and Emma new twin size beds and moved them back into the larger bedroom, along with all the pack and plays.

All in all, a good week.  Looking forward to more addition, more sight words and three letter/sound words, traveling through Asia in History and reading Stuart Little.

Sunday : Week In Review

My week went by extremely fast.  I can hardly believe its Sunday and I'm wrapping up my week.

This week I started eating better and waking up early for yoga.  I woke up early 4 out of 5 mornings.  I'm feeling pretty good about that. I really realized how much I enjoy yoga and the day that I slept in I was much more tired than the other days.

We made amazing progress with school work with Ethan this week.  He's starting to read simple words, I'm thrilled for him.  I can't wait until the world of words completely opens up for him.

We heard from the DMV about Ian's DUI this week.  His license was officially suspended for 90 days. Totally sucks.  The good news is that 90 days is the shortest amount of time.  Also the DMV case is civil and the burden of proof is lower than with the criminal case.  That means there is still a chance that the criminal charge will get reduced to an "impaired driving" ticket rather than a DUI charge.  I'm not completely clear on the logistics of that... but it seems to be what we're hoping for.

My goals for the upcoming week:
  • Yoga each weekday morning
  • Continue progress with Ethan's school
  • Start/Finish Emma's Halloween costume during the week
  • Start/Finish Ethan's Halloween costume over the weekend
  • Weed garden and pull up dead/dying summer plants

Week In Review

After what felt like a weekend from hell last weekend, I'm surprised my week went by without incident. Last weekend just was exhausting with errands, school work, ridiculous and meaningless arguments with my husband. I didn't sleep enough, I didn't relax enough.  I went into my week feeling like the living dead.

I eventually caught up on sleep, at least to the point that I joined the living.  It rained quite a bit which always makes my job as a daycare provider a lot harder.  If you ever start to doubt that kids need to be outside, just having a week's worth of rain keep them indoors.  Then check their behavior.  Its insane.

Most days this week I felt like I was just getting through the day.  Maybe due to the lack of sleep & relaxation over the weekend.  Maybe because of the rain.  I'm not entirely sure why I felt so *blah*.  But, blah is what I felt.

What did I learn from all the blah?  That's its time to put more of an effort into taking care of MYSELF.  What's the thought about the oxygen mask?  That we have to put our mask on before assisting another passenger, even our children?  If I am taking care of myself I have the strength, ability and serenity to take care of the 15 other little people souls in my house. When I am taking care of myself, I have the interest in taking care of my husband.  Taking care of ourselves first changes how we feel and how we show up in our world.
