My Fabric Stash

This, my friends, is my fabric stash. Some people stash food. I stash fabric. There is about 200 yards of fabric there. Some of it is personal fabric, some of it is "business" fabric. Its all mine.

Truth be told. ... its a problem. I lose fabric. I just *know* something is in there, but I can't find it. I need to work this though. So, I spent almost $200 the last week of December on fabric. Then I joined an online challenge on DSD to sew through my stash. I get points for sewing, and I lose points for buying. It lasts the month of January, so no buying for the whole month. The stash game actually started Jan 1, so I have been sewing a little more lately.

But, after that, like Sarah's New Years Resolution to give up soda - I'm giving up buying fabric. I know, I know, I can't give it up completely if I want to keep sewing... But, my resolution is this - to sew through this fabric. I'm not buying anything (unless its for a Michael Grace custom) until all of this fabric is gone. Anything I decide I don't want to sew, I sell/give away. When its gone then I buy fabric on a PROJECT basis. That means, if I sew a mei tai for Michael Grace, that I buy the fabric, sew it, and list it. From now on, I don't buy fabric without a project in mind, because this is bogging down my life... er um closet.

  1. I feel your pain. I have two spots in my house for fabric and if you count ribbon and craft stuff about five including the garage. Good Luck on your challenge!
